Tan Lines

In the flurry of engagement celebration Monday, my friend and I ended up at my place with a chunk of double cream brie and a bottle of Canadian red wine (the prices are amazing so I stock up when I visit my grandfather). She wanted to see/try on my wedding band, and then my shoes, and the next thing we knew we were tempting fate by drinking red wine while wearing wedding dresses. (Yes, I have two. First one was an impulse eBay purchase but the second one is really "it.")

Among all the oohs and aahs and giggles, she made a pointed observation.

"You need to do something about those tan lines."

Well she's right. And more than just doing something about the tan lines, I need to do something about the fact that I'll be the approximate shade of newly fallen snow in late March, which sounds kind of nice but actually isn't. Especially in a white dress, right? I've actually been a bit concerned about what to do. I'm so fair that every fake tanner I've ever tried has looked orangey and streaky. To be honest, I was probably going to break down and do a few sessions of really-bad-for-me-and-I'm-way-too-smart-to-resort-to-this-but-I'm-doing-it-anyway standard tanning beds.

But then this morning I opened up my email to find a possible solution! I signed up for Groupon a while ago but never actually bought anything. The idea is that a compnay offers a deep discount on something that only becomes "active" if enough people agree to buy it all together. Kind of like bulk purchase with a bunch of strangers. Nice! And today's deal was . . . 51% off airbrush tanning! I really wanted to try this but almost $50 just to see if it works is pretty steep. Now, I get to try it out for $22!

I have high hopes for this airbrush thing. Apparently they can mix the color to match different skin tones, so hopefully I won't look like I've been dipped in a vat of orange mud. And really, what more can a bride hope for?

P.S. If you want to sign up for Groupon, email me cause I think I get $10 for referring a friend!

I am in the same boat - my skin is ridiculously pale. I actually hadn't even thought of how I'm going to deal with it...looking forward to seeing how the airbrush tanning comes out!

Oh wow that sounds really cool, does it cost a lot to belong to it?
